Fowl Play, the ninth Dewberry
Another visit to the Gray Whale Inn
I just got off the phone with my agent, Jessica, and am thrilled to announce that I will be returning to the Gray Whale Inn in the next few months!
Although I have no idea what the title of the third book will be yet, I do know it will be out next summer. (As in 2008, not 2007 — I’m fast, but I’m not that fast.) I’m already playing around with what will happen — I think there will be light recipes (including the infamous lemon berry souffle muffin recipe) in it, and possibly a lighthouse element. I love lighthouses. Why are they so magical? So mysterious and alluring and lonely…
Anyway, I’ll stop nattering on about lighthouses now, since it’s time to pick up Mr. “You-Don’t-Make-the-Rules-of-Me.” 🙂
But I’m very excited, and am once again googling plane fares. Research is a very important element of writing, after all… as is copious lobster consumption. Stimulates the brain cells.
Ta for now (I only wrote 800 words or so, and will have to do a two-fer later)…
By the way — if you have any ideas of what you might like to happen, please let me know; I’m always trolling for interesting plot twists.

Karen-As someone who spent time as a single young woman in Maine, other parts of New England and Austin, the biggest unsolved mystery in the Gray Whale series is how a hunk of manhood like John remains unattached on that island. Trust me, if they knew about him in Portland, they would organize boat tours out there! I must know the reason for his singleness and I must know now! Obviously, if this story were set on an island off the coast of Austin, there would be no mystery because Austin has a plethora of hunky unattached guys–I know–I married one of them!! I am still amazed at the ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures on that garage you did, by the way; I may have to post them here soon. It’s amazing. Sadly, my garage is closer to the former than the latter…

Great news about the next book in the series. So what’s three books in fifteen months? Don’t the just write themselves? LOL!!!
Tomorrow is my writer’s group & I’m bringing my query letter, I didn’t get a chance to rewrite my synopsis, along with a loaf of Irish Soda bread, which I’m off to bake right after I feed the dogs.

Karen-You can go ahead and post those before and after photos because I’m proud of them! And, don’t feel bad about your garage, I get so happy when I see a big ‘ol mess like that, but I have a feeling yours isn’t that bad no matter what you say. Did I tell you that after her garage sale, she made $1100 and her garage was clean???? Cool huh? Also, to the lady who called you “Grace”, she shouldn’t feel bad because I’ve called my husband, Richard, “Susan” for years because that’s my older sister’s name. He’s gotten used to it…poor man.

You should be proud of those pictures. And she made out like a bandit.
And I am terrible with names; I called my friend Melanie “Melinda” for a year before she corrected me, and another friend (Debbie) I called Chris because she once sent me an e-mail from her husband’s account.
LOL on the “Susan” thing — good thing you have a wonderful and understanding husband. I do occasionally call my husband by my son’s name… but at least I’ve got the gender right! 🙂
