Not the most productive day

Well, so far today I’m topping at around 500 words, which really wasn’t where I wanted to be… BUT I did get to eat donuts with four wonderful Barnes and Noble Community Relations Managers, so that was a good thing. (Gosh, I’m starting to sound like Martha.)

Then I did some press release stuff. And ate lunch. And only then did I drag my sorry derriere to the coffee house to write for about 45 minutes before going for a walk. (Can’t miss that walk!)

But the plum blossoms are blooming! They smell heavenly. I miss the apple blossoms, blowsy and pink, of my childhood… but now at least I have bluebonnets. And plum blossoms, of course. I do like spring blooms, but they are so brief, and when they go it is a chilling (perhaps that’s not the word) reminder of the brutal summer to come…

I’ll check in later. Hope everybody’s day was more productive than mine.

Ummm…I wrote 1/10, almost exactly, of what you wrote today. UGGG. I did work a lot of hours at my “real job”, though, and I went to the (double ugg) gym, so I felt virtuous.

    Hi,

Well you may not have written much today, but you did something that will help your career and you walked. I’ll be hitting the edits in about an hour (waiting for my hubby to come home so I can give him dinner) and I’ll probably spend an hour on that. I didn’t get as far as I hoped yesterday, but I felt good about it. After work today, I picked up the dogs at their groomer’s shop. I love grooming day. They come home looking so perfect. Too bad it doesn’t last.

Oh,well. I better get going. Good luck tomorrow with meeting your word count.

  3. Laura,

Every bit of progress — and I mean every word — is a step in the right direction.

Congrats for sitting down at the computer. And tomorrow is another day.

    keep the faith!

  4. Debra,

I often fall short of the mark I’ve set myself, but sometimes those are just targets — an arbitrary goal to motivate myself. And you’re right — the release did help, because I think the Westlake Picayune may do a feature on me. Which would be lovely, and I’ll let you know.

As for the dogs, the only thing I can think of is wrapping them in Saran Wrap, but it’s not an ideal solution. You should post a pic! I want a dog — maybe a mini schnauzer (I have allergies) — but my husband is dead set against it.

    Maybe someday…

Thanks for the words of encouragement; today was a better day, and fingers crossed that tomorrow will go well, too. I hope you have a productive day as well!

Thanks for checking in, and I’ll be thinking of you!

    Cheers,
    K
