Trick or Treat? Definitely a
Magic 101
My five-year-old just walked into the kitchen with a magic wand, pointed it at me, and hollered, “Expecto Patrono!”
I put down the glass I was unloading from the dishwasher and let out a mock scream.
“No,” my budding magician said, impatiently. “You’re a pimento. You’re supposed to walk away now.”
(Incidentally, my daughter calls dementors “Dementions.” Kind of like detention for the insane.)
I’m off to Remember the Alibi, but will have more time later today (yesterday was the gymnastics drive-a-thon followed by a wine-and-Chinese-food-get-together, so it was less than blog-tastic).
And I just realized I forgot to do my Cozy Chicks thing on Thursday.
Whoops!
Will be back to read, react, and perhaps post again later…
Ciao for now!
Your kids are just too cute. Sounds like they’re already being very creative. (Which one is the magician–your daughter??) So funny about the name Patrono– I have a character in my sadly- progressing mystery called George Patrone. He’s the cab driver who took my victim to the train station and was the last one to see her alive–(or who seemingly was the last…)
Unlike you and most of your other blogger buddies, I don’t count words at an indication of progress because I’m in the re-write stage. So I just count the hours. Usually I say to myself–okay You’re going to write for the next two hours. No emails, no internet, no paying bills…
Hope you’re having a fun weekend!
Judy
Reminds me of when my five-year-old, reprimanded about something minor, pointed his finger at me and said “Zap. You’re a frog.” He’s 45 now. It’s amazing how the generations repeat themselves.–Susan Albert
I just love kids and I also love parents who love their kids. Since mine are now 12 and 19, they don’t say that hilariously pure stuff anymore. I have a notebook filled with frantic scribbling from when they did say wonderful things like that and from time to time I sit down and read it and laugh and let my eyes tear up. On a different note, I finished another sale yesterday and (drum roll please) $1400!!!! Talk to you soon, Melissa
Goodmorning,
Yep, it’s still raining in Connecticut. On the bright side, my ducks love it.
Kids do say the darnest things. While I don’t have any, I have 2 shih-tzus that if they could talk I would be so worried what they would say. My hubby & I agree that if Susie could talk she’d be a chatterbox. LOL. You know what that little mop does? When I reprimand her, she tosses her head back (yeah, I’m serious) and howls at me. Then of course I wag my index finger at her and say, “Don’t you howl at me missy.”
I think I need to get out more. Hmm. Good thing I signed up for that quilting class.
As for my WIP, I have one scene and the last chapter (woo hoo) to edit. Then it’s done!!!!!!!!!
Have a great day,
Debra S.
Judy,
My son was the magician…
And the re-write stage. (Shudder.) I’m there too. And hoping the hours are minimal.
I much prefer the writing part.
The weekend was fun, but tiring. How about yours?
Susan,
How’s the tour going? (For those of you who don’t know, that’s Susan Wittig Albert, the amazing bestselling author.)
I can’t wait to see you at Malice!
And did you turn into a frog?
Melissa,
Congrats on the big moolah job!
Maybe I should switch to cleaning garages… 😉
Debra,
My kids get time-outs for eye-rolling.
Not sure how it works for the canine set, though. 🙂
Congrats on the WIP!
When you’re done with that, I’ve got some editing that needs working on… 😉
