Short and sweet… just like boric acid snack cakes

Just a quick one tonight… promise to respond to your comments tomorrow (and Melissa, I got yours via e-mail).

I made up some condensed-milk-boric-acid snack cakes, John, and distributed them for the six-legged population’s enjoyment. I’ll let you know how it goes; thanks for the tip!

And some good news today. Charlotte, my editor at Ballantine, is 100 pages from the end of the revisions I sent her and says they’re great, and that the book will be ready to go into production next week.

Hallelujah.

And, for those of you who are interested, I just did a quickie (post, that is) over at Cozy Chicks on the merits of partial chaos.

Ciao for now… dead tired… hope all is well with you!

I just read your cozy chicks column about clutter, etc. I think that’s why we are writers– If everything were perfectly neat and we had no obstacles to stand in our way, we would probably be in another line of work. Although my life is far from perfect, since I retired, everything has been running so smoothly. In fact too smoothly. It wasn’t until I hit a major obstacle — a very upsetting and disappointing situation– that I realized I needed that! After the initial metaphorical tears, and the 24 hours following them, I discovered how filled I was with inspiration. I was suddenly on track again & felt I could write forever.
I enjoyed the comments made by your fellow cozy chicks too!

You’re welcome… hopefully you’ll be seeing some results soon if you haven’t already. Having just read your Cozy Chicks post from yesterday, I have to say when it comes to tarantulas, I have nothing to suggest, except for maybe the shoe it came in… but since you kept it, I guess it’s not an issue. (By the way… you KEPT it??) Someone else that lives in Austin told me they saw a tarantula in their back yard about a week ago. Still, it could be worse… I was expecting you to say “scorpion.” You do know not to leave your shoes outside when you’re camping in the Hill Country, don’t you? 🙂

  4. Judy,

I do feel that way about writing… it comes and goes. And lately it’s been roaring along, which is why I haven’t been here quite so much; I’m so very glad to be back on track that all of my writing energy is going into the ms!

Hope hope hope your writing’s going well…

  5. Debra,

You’re back on line… and so am I!

    Good to see you!

  6. John,

The whole boric acid thing is working like a charm.

And yes, “Hairy Terry” now lives in a terrarium next to the aquarium in the living room. The kids catch june bugs for him.

It’s a weird world we live in. 🙂

Only seen one scorpion, nine years ago… all clear ever since!
